I think we need to get new dvd storage like this one…

I wonder where I could get one. I think I better check out some home stores. We have a number of DVDs and CDs just placed in a plastic box. We need to organize it soon as we need a space from the guest room. We do intend to convert the room as the nursery room of the coming baby. I still have few months to organize everything. Good luck to me!

When you are doing a construction project you almost always have a budget you have to stick to. This can be at times frustrating as you want to do everything you have in mind. When you are building your stairs the same principles apply. So you will have a budget for just the stair project. You want to get as much as you can for the price you are going to be paying. A good idea is to look online for your parts. Online stores generally don’t have the same overhead as your local hardware supplier and can pass some of the discounts on to the customer. For example you can find stair tread at a heavily discounted price from all the suppliers in your area. If you want the upgrades you can use the savings to upgrade the materials you want. If you wanted an exotic look you can get some of the exotic woods that usually cost more.

Happy that we are finally done with our project for the repainting of the house facade. It has been a plan since December of last year and we were supposed to let the painter do his job while we were in the US. But because of the kids getting sick, we have to push back the plan. Good thing we were able to arrange for it already last week. The painter finished the job in 3 days. We asked to do minor repairs in our roof as well. Next project would be to check out wood blinds online and from the stores as we plan to change all our roman blinds already come summer.

Off to the mall today to check out ironing boards. Apparently, our house help broke our existing one. I wonder what she has been doing with it since I know that the one i previously got is a sturdy one. I need to buy today since there are tons of clothes to iron including my clothes/uniforms for the upcoming events this October. Can you advise me what brand is good?

Our December travel vacation is fast approaching and i am making a number of lists already. One, I need to make a new list again of all the godchildren my husband and I have. I need to start shopping for them since we will be gone for the season. Oh yeah, I am a good godmother who never fails to give gifts for my godchildren during Christmas. Second, I also need to make a list of things I would need to get in outlets and stores in US. To say that I am excited is actually an understatement! (lol!). The only concern now is how to save enough so I could do a shopping splurge while we are there. Topping my list is actually to look for some nice and cute Childrens Bedding. We are rearranging the kids room so they can start sleeping on their own room by next year. I also need to get some pretty lamps and accessories to complement a girly room. Aside from that, I am also thinking to get some decal stickers which we can use to aesthetically decorate the walls of the room. On the other hand, I am also looking forward in buying a new set of cookwares. I hope to find a good deal on a Calphalon set. I want to get the non-stick 14-pieces set. Gosh, but we need to travel all the way to Gilroy Premium Outlet just to buy it at a great price. I hope I can get to convince my husband to travel extra 4 hours for it. Hmm, I’m sure my list will be a lengthy one. I better finish it now.

How do you properly keep personal documents? I have a whole pile of documents from our personal records, bank statements, credit card bills and receipts even insurance policies. I was even surprised that I am even keeping those previous quotes including an rv insurance quote! I wonder why I have those
I searched through a cabinet in my home office and I found credit card bills and charge slips even dated like 2009! I think I better start fixing these documents. I am thinking to buy a nice accordion folder to sort and compile everything. I will start with that. I hope to really work on this soon. There are just so many things to fix in the house. I cannot believe that we have accumulated so much junk for just more than 2 years. I better put order on this. I will devise a plan. Wish me luck!

I have been reading up some articles on how to disciple kids not to watch TV. It has been a struggle recently especially that school has started so I have to get the kids back to the idea of no watching anymore especially at night. Never mind the omnidirectional antennas that the husband recently got for the kids’ TV set because I am really inclined to let them sleep early every night since they have to wake up early every morning. I hope someone can really share to me a foul-proof way on how to implement this rule!

The trip to the hardware store last week made us buy a new mower for our lawn. We are trying to find those type like the zero turn riders but those are not just available in the store. So we opted to the regular ones. Now, I can just ask the driver to do it instead of hiring a grass cutter every month. I better be back to gardening too!

I asked the household helps to assist me in cleaning up all our cabinets in the room. That task has been long overdue since last year. But I just had to make it happen before the Chinese New Year. Glad we were able to finish before the eve of the celebration. I was able to clear up our closets to as much as extra 40% space since I need to dispose other clothes and shoes. I threw a number of junk as well and was even suprised to see some loose us coins in one of drawers. Got to keep this so we can still use when we get back to LA. It’s a refreshing feeling to actually be clearing up all the clutter in our rooms.

I fell in love with this kind of Luxury bed linens which I saw from InStyle Magazine.

It’s a luxurious 1200ct egyptian cotton sheet. It’s actually a Valentino Signature Linen. It’s so fabulous! I want to get even just a piece of it. I love the idea of making it with personal signature monogramming. I’m sure this kind of sheet is very cool, crisp and very soft. It would make you want to lie down on bed. It is also a perfect match to our mattress as it could fit up to 19″ thickness. Now, I want to order!

We are converting one of our rooms in the upper floor to our mini Spa Room. The husband and I are thinking to even get a massage table. A friend was actually selling us one but I wasn’t too happy with it when I saw it. It looks like one of those exam tables on some medical clinics. So I guess we have to look further on our options. I bought nice accessories for the cabinets and even completed like different massage oils which I got from a friend who sells organic products. The husband has asked our electrician to change the lighting system too so we could have a cozier feel when we are having our home-service massage with having some dimmed lights and soft quiet music from our iPod dock. I’m excited, hope we could get the perfect massage table already.

Yes, I finally managed to get new curtains for the house. Since we have a very high ceiling, changing our curtains could just be done annually. Aside from it is kinda hard to change it because we even need to bring in scaffolding, it is also a pain the pocket. I still have a number of items on my list of “to buy” for the house. Not now yet but I am sure it would come one by one. Next up, I need chair slipcovers and a very nice painting. I hope to get these two at least for 2011.

One of my wildest dreams is to own a piece of furniture from Ethan Allen. We visited this store when we were still furnishing our house. One sofa would already cost for like a down payment for a brand new car. I almost fell on the ground after checking the prices so we ended up having our “ethan allen inspired” furniture customized instead by our interior designer. We are happy with the output nonetheless.
But heard that there’s something cooking up next week in their store in Pioneer Street, Mandaluyong City. Check out their poster below…

Tempted to check them out as I wanted to get new curtains!

The husband woke me up early this morning as he wanted to go to the mall to buy something. At first, he actually didn’t want to divulge yet what he plans to buy. I was secretly hoping it was for me but he was asking me to come with him in a wrong mall if what he planned to purchase was for me. I was hoping it would be in greenbelt 4 or 5, lol! But instead he dragged me to SM Megamall. We arrived early than expected since there was no traffic at all and the mall opened at 12nn. We were there a little before 11am. Anyway, he already told me while we were waiting in the car that he plans to buy something for the house. Thought, he might be thinking to replace all our lighting inside as he was telling me about using some LED lights already. Oh well, it wasn’t a simple purchase actually but after looking for his choices for hours, (yes, took him forever!) he got a new home theater system.
My CC had so much beating as well during our time in the mall because as he was practically comparing his options, I got my free time to move around in the home department area. I got few stuff for the house too.
The shopping today was totally for our loving abode.
