A Weekender Bag…

Lesportsac

Thanks to Jane for buying the above LeSportsSac Large when their family went to Guam last January. I actually failed to get it the last time we were in Guam last November. I trusted her instinct and I was so happy with what she got for me. Not to mention that the price is also a great steal!  On sale at $83!!! ;) I love the prints! :-) It would be a perfect weekender bag/carry on bag to hold the girls’ stuff  for our trip to US. This would do while I “still cannot” afford an LV Keepall 50! :P

Travel Expo Deals…

So what did we finally get from the Travel Expo deals last Feb 19-21?

We decided to take Philippine Airlines again for our trip to the US.  I was open in the idea of checking other airlines and I am more amenable with a flight with lay-away so I can tire the kids (lol!) ;) and they would just sleep through the flight.  But after checking all travel agencies in the Expo, we were down to two options:  China Airlines vs Philippine Airlines.  An almost $200 price difference per passenger matters a lot if we are flying as a family.  China Airlines was $187 less than PAL. But it was the husband who decided.  We went for PAL.

We were able to get extra 3000 miles per passenger since we booked and paid during the expo. These were on top of the 14,000 miles to accumulate for MLA-LAX-MLA.   Worth the cueing for the long line.  I actually went Friday to book our flight already and we just went back Saturday to pay for it.  Good thing we were allowed not to line up anymore when we just paid for the tickets.

We almost earned close to 75,000 miles with that transaction as we even used our CC that accummulates points for miles conversion.  Those points can go a long way already.  Yahoo!  Great deal indeed! Meaning, got to use those miles again for another trip! ;)

It would be this friday, February 19-21, 2010 at SMX Convention Halls 2, 3, 4.  I am hoping to get good deals including our round trip airfare tickets to US this May.  The husband really asked me to come.  He has a contact to Amadeus, the software provider for all travel agencies.  I hope his friend could lead me to the cheapest fare being offered ;)

Traveling…

is all in my mind recently. I have been busy checking out the rates of different airlines from different agencies for our upcoming trip to the US. I am also busy corresponding with an agent from a vacation property management called 3rd Home. We wanted to avail of their home exchange program available to members. The program is like exchanging your second home with some other luxurious vacation homes all over the world. You would get to enjoy and gain exclusive access to beautiful resorts and even those private destinations. 3rd Home’s objective is to allow home owners of vacation homes to have a different getaway experience. The program create the finest, luxury, second home exchange program all over the world. They do maintain the highest standard in the industry. Some of their most popular destinations for vacation rentals are located in Miami, Florida, Palm Springs California and Nantucket Massachusetts. Since we are preparing for our trip this May, we would would like to look at the option of trading with their other members for beach villas in Mexico or nice mansions in Miami Beach. In fact, in the future, we would also like to try those upscale lofts in France and even those log homes in Colorado. Oh, I just love planning for travel escapades!

Marco Polo Gateway

It took me weeks before finally deciding to stay just for a night in the city in Marco Polo Gateway in HongKong.  There were another of “not so good” reviews from TripAdvisor but still took my chances. The verdict? I was very happy with the hotel. I heart its location to bits! Never stayed on that side of the city before since we were always booked somewhere HongKong Island or on the side of Jordan. But this time, since we have kids in tow, we really have to find a hotel which is right at the heart of shopping mall. Yes, Gateway was right smack in the center of Harbour City. I love our room because it was big. Bigger than our Disneyland Hollywood Hotel actually. We got a deluxe room at the price of superior room. I got lucky when I was about to book already that I was able to get this promo. The only thing I didn’t like on the room is their old door. They still use the typical door knob and not the vingcards yet. The bathroom is huge too.

If you are really going to HongKong for shopping, I would bet for Marco Polo Gateway as a perfect location. It was near MTR stations, H&M store and those flagship stores of designer brands. Just hold on to your pockets! :P

I heart this hotel. I would really consider staying again on this hotel.

Here are pictures of our room…

Wish, wish!

securedownload

Amazing deal huh! We have been to Puerto Princesa but not yet to El Nido. This is one of the places we would like to go to in the future. Looks like they have a nice promo right now. All guests who have been there have all good words to say about the place. I wish we could have the same experience as well. But we are done for travel plans for the year. For the meantime, I can only wish for it!

16 June

Sayang ang miles…

literally!  Do you remember that TV commercial?  PAL offered a 50% on miles redemption from June 1-10 and which I think has been extended until June 24.  And with that offer, I cannot resist not to make plans on travel.  The husband finally said “no” to the trip I wanted this July.  In other words, my hotel booking through the timesharing membership is already forfeited.  But I actually haven’t cancelled at all since my SIL would still check if she can go with me!  lol! (that’s supposed to be in Bangkok)

In exchange, despite the swine flu, the October plan to travel to HongKong with the kids has been moved to the month of September.  I’m excited for this as it would be the first time of the kids there.  Of course, we would bring them to Disneyland HK.  Instead of the 15,000 miles needed for a round-trip ticket to HK, we were able to redeem it at 7,500 each only.  That means, the expiring miles we have on September have been utilized.  Isn’t great?

And since we still have another 30,000 miles remaining, we decided to still use it up to maximize the promo.  Next destination?  The island of Guam on November!  We were able to claim 3 round-trip tickets already with the remaining miles cause instead of 20,000 miles each, it was down to 10,000 each.  We just got our other daughter a “paying ticket.”  I just hope it’s not stormy that time.  But whatever it is, I’m so giddy-happy.  Know why?  It’s tax-free shopping in Guam!  (see me smiling from ear to ear! grin!) :-D

This promo of mabuhay miles is so “sulit!”  I would really recommend getting a credit card that is tied up to mabuhay miles.  Our miles mostly came from our points from credit card charges.  This 50% off redemption is actually a yearly thing.  We only paid taxes for our round-trip tickets.  Mind you, the tax to HongKong and Guam are just the same.  It was only at Php4,903/pax for the round-trip.  It was surely a great savings for us so we can have more room for shopping money!

Thanks to the husband for agreeing with all the plans!

13 October

Itinerary for HK

Tomorrow will be the trip. Excited but will definitely miss the kids and the husband. The husband said he should have joined me for this trip.  Now, he’s talking :-(  (nasa huli talaga ang pagsisisi).  So instead, he asked me to buy him 2 shoes, shirts, ties and perfumes.  Yikes, dami nun ah.  And he promised last night for another HK trip with the kids by summer of next year.  (di pa man din ako nakakaalis, i’m planning na for another trip!  hihihi)  We are saving up for the miles you know!  We are close to getting 4 round trip tickets through credit card purchases via Mabuhay Miles.

Anyway, I’m the official tour guide for this trip cause the two cousins haven’t been there!

23 August

Another trip!

I will be going to HongKong this October 14-17.  Yes, you read it right, just me and not going to be with Dicky and the kids.  After a lot of pulling and pushing, the husband doesn’t want to go.  He didn’t allow me to even bring just Margaux.  I will be going to HK with my cousins to actually check out a business matter.  One of them asked me to accompany her since she hasn’t been there.  Can you imagine?  She’s been to different countries but not HK.  So she seeked out my help, since she knows that I have been to HK a couple of times already.

Of course, this will be coupled with pleasure and a lot of shopping I bet.  And with Dicky not around, I might end up buying another LV bag!  Yay!

Hmmm…
